Miriam completed her MSc in Medical Art from the University of Dundee in 2014, being an artist with a particular interest in improving the communication of medical information to patients. She spent the year after her MSc working in the industry at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Part of this role involved helping to develop a more interactive, multimedia version of the traditional patient information leaflets, using electronic books.
As of March 2016 she is studying for her PhD in ‘Serious Cartoons – Visual Communication of Personalised Health Information’, under the supervision of Dr Wendy Moncur and Prof Chris Rowland, at DJCAD, University of Dundee through the DJCAD PhD scholarship programme. The aim of the research is to find the best way in which to communicate complex health information to patients in a personalised visual form.
